Julia and Ilya got married on 8 August at Torre Collevento, a stone villa in the hills outside Orvieto. It was an intimate wedding in the rustic Italian style, with only ten guests. The morning began slowly: the dress hanging from a four-poster bed, white orchids on an old wooden dresser, a toast with friends before getting dressed.
Ilya waited with a bouquet of white flowers by the old stone doorway until Julia stepped out behind him. The ceremony took place on the lawn, under a white gazebo overlooking the Umbrian hills, and was led by one of the couple's best friends.
As the sun went down we walked out across the hill towards the gazebo. Later, a long table under the pines filled with candlelight, and the night ended with dancing on the grass under the string lights.
