Carole & Tommaso
Carole and Tommaso’s Belgian–Italian wedding took place on 16 September in Emilia. The morning began in two houses: Tommaso laughing with his friends as they fixed his bow tie, his cuffs embroidered with Carole’s name; Carole in a robe that read “La mariée”, with her bridesmaids in green beside her.
They married in the parish church of San Giovanni Battista, in the centre of Fiorano Modenese, with angels watching over the altar, then walked out through the great wooden doors with their arms in the air. On the way to the party we stopped in a long avenue of cypresses for their first portraits together.
The celebration continued at Borgo Monte del Gesso, in the hills above Reggio Emilia: lunch in the glass-walled hall with napkins twirling in the air, portraits in the late-afternoon light with the valley below, a speech that brought Carole to tears, the bouquet toss and a first dance under the old wooden beams.
